Worthless Checks: Resources and Prosecution in DeKalb and Cherokee County
If you have received a worthless check from a Debtor
(person who signed the check), you can attempt
collection through the following process:
- Send a certified letter to the Debtor using the Statutory Notice form.
- After the notice has been sent, if you have not received payment you can bring the signed green card or certified mail envelope along with the legal copy of the check from the bank.
- When a worthless check is brought to our office for collection, please complete the Intake Form and include it with the other items necessary for a check to be processed through the Worthless Check Unit.
